Happy Thanksgiving!

  • Buy one holiday drink at Starbucks and get one free, 2-5pm.
Tuesday 12/4:
If you need to buy groceries, stop by the new Trader Joe's across from Seminole Square, they always have free samples (I tried their cookie butter, wine, and coffee this weekend, it was all quite delicious).

It's almost Thanksgiving Break, hang in there!


Monday 11/12: (Happy Veteran's Day!)
  • Interested in the Neuroscience major? There will be an information session at 5:30-7:30 in Gilmer 166. "There will be free food", according to Connections. 
  • I am not sure if this event is full yet, but from 12:30-2 you can share your thoughts about ITS over a free catered lunch. Email its-pr@virginia.edu if interested.
  • Looking for a job? Attend Interviewing Secrets from Insiders at Alumni Hall at 5, free pizza and sodas will be provided, courtesy of the 2013 Trustees. RSVP here.
  • Fourth Year? Celebrate Colbert being our Valediction speaker by getting free AmeriCone Dream ice cream on the South Lawn from 1-3.
  • Get a free Bloomin' Onion at Outback Steakhouse today.
Tuesday 11/13:
  • Second Year? If you already signed up for the Fall Dinner Series (I believe registration has ended), don't forget to attend the catered dinner tonight, 6:15-8:30 in Alumni Hall. Apparently it will be Thanksgiving themed, courtesy of Second Year Council. Keep track of future sign-ups here.
Wednesday 11/14:
  • Look into signing up for the History, Anthropology, and Religious Studies Major Meal tonight, "this event is open to all majors in all years"! It will be held at 6pm in Alumni  Hall, courtesy of Third Year Council. Sign up here.
  • Want to make dessert sushi? Stop by 'Step into Japan' at the Lorna Sundberg International Center from 5-7 as part of International Education WeekRegister here.

  • 4th Year? Stop by Pavillion V from 8:30-11:15 and consider signing the pledge to remember the UNC vs. UVA game. Free Bodo's will be provided.
  • Donate blood today and get free stuff!
  • Stop by Studco's event Get Out the Vote on the Lawn from 12-2 and sign their banner while eating free food.

Wednesday 10/24:
  • Considering applying to graduate school at UVa? Grab some free pizza and listen to a panel of UVA graduate school admissions representatives at 7 in Peabody Hall's first floor auditorium.
  • Second Year and interested in studying abroad? Second Year Council is sponsoring a study abroad information session in Nau 101 at 5-6, pizza will be provided. 
  • Second Year Council will be sponsoring "Singers, Cider, and Spiders" in the Central Gazebo between Faulkner and Copley between 8-9 serving cider and other fall foods.
  • There will be a free screening of Miss Representation in Minor Hall 125 from 6:30-8:30, pizza and refreshments provided. 
Thursday 10/25:
  • Fourth Year? Don't miss Cocktails with College Council and the Trustees from 6-8 at Pavilion VI.
  • First or Second Year? Grab free Arches at "Desserts with the Deans", courtesy of College Council, at the Chem Building at 6.
Friday 10/26:
  • If you haven't made this event yet, you should check out Final Fridays from 5:30-7:30 at the Fralin Museum of Art on Rugby Road, drinks (beer & wine) and hors d'oeuvres will be served.
  • Fourth Year? Join your class at Carters Mountain for apple picking and free apple donuts at 4:30-6.

  • Have an interview coming up? Stop by the Recruiting Room in Bryant Hall for UCS's "Art of Interviewing" workshop from 5-7. Pizza and soda will be provided.

Saturday 9/20:
  • Its "Sampling Saturdays" at Auntie Anne's (in Fashion Square Mall). Probably not worth going out there for, but if you're already shopping, its worth a stop.
  • Come out to Pancakes for Parkinson's to grab some pancakes and support a great cause, from 9-1.

No better way to prepare for Halloween than with a student discount

Its student night on Fridays, $24.99 w/ student ID.
So apparently it is already October, which I automatically associate with Halloween. While its may not be related to food, student night at Kings Dominion is still a cool deal. I've gone twice, it was well worth it.

Monday 10/8:
  • Mention the name "Ryan Newman" at Outback Steakhouse and get a free Bloomin' Onion w/ any purchase.
Wednesday 10/10:
  • Politics or Psychology major? Regardless if you are, you can still sign up for College Council's first "Major Meal Dinner Series" at 6 at Alumni Hall, registration required.
  • Interested in working for NASA (and a STEM major)? There will be an information session about applying for funding from NASA to do research from 12:30-1:30 at MEC 214, pizza lunch provided.
  • Rent a free movie from redbox for free with the code BIRTHDAY, today only.
Thursday 10/11:
  • Stop by the Kluge Ruhe between 5:30-7 for Aussome Thursdays: free beer, appetizers, and art viewing provided.
  • As part of Homecomings, there will be a free cookout on the South Lawn starting at 6!
Friday 10/12:
Saturday 10/11:
  •  Celebrate Homecomings by partaking in Cavalier Countdown at noon in Alumni Hall and enjoy food from Wayside and music.
Sunday 10/14:
  • Aware of the event "Food For Thought" yet? Sounds like it’s made for this blog, considering it appeals to our common goal ("Everyone loves free food samples!"... obviously). Check it out at the Amphitheater between 1-4, courtesy of UPC.
I have yet to try this, but apparently with this coupon you can get a free waffle at the Waffle House (there is one on 29) until the end of the month.
